Designing and making beautiful furniture, making it properly, for customers who love what we do. That’s what we love to do. It’s as simple as that. Life can be complicated enough. We like to keep things simple. We believe in buying something of quality, something that does what its supposed to do, that looks great doing it and gives you value for money. Most of all we believe in buying things that give you pleasure in owning and using. On top of that our furniture is incredibly eco friendly, made in Britain, made using sustainable materials and built to last forever, what could be better than that.
Simon Ashton
Co founder and Director of Ashton And Coleman. Simon gained many years of experience managing a workshop for Indigo Furniture, a well known furniture retailer in Matlock. Later working as a self employed bespoke joiner and furniture maker before teaming up with Pete to form Ashton And Coleman in late 2014. Qualifications in electronics, experience running a busy furniture workshop and a great understanding of woodworking machinery and furniture manufacturing forms a large portion of the success of the business.
Peter Coleman
Co founder and Director of Ashton And Coleman. Pete worked his apprenticeship at a commercial interiors joinery workshop learning much about design, detail and planning of bespoke joinery. Pete later became self employed and set up a bespoke joinery and furniture business, before teaming up with Simon to form Ashton And Coleman in late 2014. Pete has a real passion for both designing and making. Previously gained qualifications in graphic design have contributed to the development of the company brand.
Billie Jo Simpson
Billie-Jo Simpson qualified in Joinery through an apprenticeship in a furniture manufacturers in Buxton, joining Ashton And Coleman in the Summer of 2018 as a fully qualified joiner. A passionate and skilled furniture maker Billie barely takes a breath between each piece of furniture she makes. Billie has an exceptional eye for detail in cabinetmaking.
Sam Earnshaw
Sam has been making furniture for many years. As Simon did, Sam previously working for Indigo Furniture in Matlock as a fully qualified joiner and furniture maker. Sam joined the team in late summer 2020. He walked into the workshop, started making furniture, and hasn’t stopped. A dedicated member of the team and a skilled craftsman. Sam is now juggling two roles in the workshop, one as maker and one as workshop manager.
Romy Sheppard
Romy joined Ashton And Coleman in July 2021. Waxing her first bed like she had being doing it for years, she fitted straight into the workshop life. Through an apprenticeship scheme Romy is now a fully qualified furniture maker and vital part of the workshop team. Romy also self appointed herself as Ashton & Coleman’s official works outing organiser. A very important role!!
Anne Eccles
Anne has been the bedrock of the Ashton & Coleman office since 2016. Anne joined us as a bookkeeper at first but soon found she had become so much more, taking care of so many important tasks, she became more of an office manager. Anne has supported Ashton & Coleman in so many ways but it needs to be said that her cakes and bakes are nothing short of legendary.
Jordan Osborne
Jordan’s first experience with Ashton & Coleman was as a customer. Over time it became obvious that his interests, experience and expertise married perfectly with Ashton & Coleman’s desire to grow into the next phase of their business. He brings an immense passion for design and a love for the product that we produce that is imperative in his role as marketing and social media manager.
Pamela Worboys
Pam is the newest member of our team. Finding Pam when we did was like finding gold. Every small business who prides themselves on being true, honest and personable with their valued customers needs a Pam. Pam’s level of experience in the furniture industry is extensive but her passion for people is even greater.
