Not necessarily. The majority of the time it comes down to the quality of the fixing method used to attach the brackets to the wall. After that it comes down to the quality of material and quality of design with that material, rather than simply a choice between metal or wood. Ashton & Coleman metal shelf brackets are laser cut and shaped from 5mm thick steel, ensuring our metal shelf brackets are super strong.
If you are simply screwing your brackets to timber supports or panelling for instance the metal shelf brackets we supply are extremely easy to install. A measure and marking out followed by a pilot hole with a drill and a screwdriver and screws and your job is done. If it requires drilling into brick or stone then it’s exactly the same process but instead of drilling a pilot hole you drill a hole with a masonry drill bit, then you insert a rawl plug and screw the bracket into the rawl plugs. If you are fixing to plasterboard with empty space behind the board then you can replace rawl plugs with plasterboard fixings and screw your brackets to those when fitted. It is much easier than people often think. You just have to follow the old fashioned mark out, measure twice and drill once rule. Think before you drill, use the right size drill bit to suit the right size rawl plug or plasterboard fixing and take your time and be confident. If your not sure, find a friend with a drill who likes helping and buy them a drink…. That usually works too.
