It doesn’t get much more sturdy than this! This solid oak bed is handmade by furniture makers in our own workshop in Derbyshire using FSC European oak timbers.

On the Plank Bed, Our bed posts are made from solid ninety-five-millimetre thick oak timbers, they are not laminated together from smaller pieces of timber much like other companies’ products. Ashton & Coleman beds to use only the best possible timbers and section sizes available to us to enable us to make the best quality furniture for our customers. It matters to us, as each and every piece that leaves our company is a representative of our business and our passion for making quality furniture. We offer lifetime guarantees on all of our beds as they are quite simply built to last forever. The headboard, footboard on the Plank Bed and side rails are all made from thirty-five-millimetre-thick European oak. The bed is constructed with traditional mortice and tenons with removable side rails that are fitted to the headboard and footboard with tenons held in by super strong metal brackets. Twenty-seven-millimetre removable slats complete the bed and give you and your mattress absolute stability throughout. Buy one of our solid oak bed frames and you will simply never need another bed. That is true value for money.

For your chosen piece of furniture to fit the space you intend, please allow an additional 12mm on all external sizes given. Ashton And Coleman cannot be held responsible for failed installations or deliveries due to sizes being miscalculated by a customer.

Finish : Fiddes White Wax Oil

Build quality: Handmade by Ashton And Coleman using 4″ solid section European oak for the bed posts. Glued and dowelled 3/4 inch mortice and tenon joints fix the random width European oak planks to the posts. Extremely strong 3/4 inch mortice and tenons connect the side rails to the posts. Solid metal brackets are screwed to the side rails and the posts to keep the mortice and tenon’s together and also allow them to come apart for delivery. But don’t worry, you can take these beds apart and put them back together extremely easily and over and over again without losing the quality or strength of the bed.

Side rails size: 3.5cm x 25cm with additional timber slat support.
