The pine Slat Bed is A design classic which has been around for a very long time and still proves as popular as ever with our customers. Our slat bed is more of a modern take on the classic slat bed.  All of our solid wood beds are handcrafted with the same emphasis on both design and quality.

Our Slat Bed is a solid wood farmhouse design made by our own team of furniture makers right here in the beautiful Derbyshire Dales. All of our Slat beds are made and finished by hand, by us, ensuring each order is of the highest quality. We use solid section four-inch Scandinavian redwood for the bed posts. The Slat Bed headboard and footboard components are made with one-and-a-half-inch thick by twelve-inch wide Quebec pine planks. Solid twenty-seven-millimetre thick redwood is used for the slats. All joints are traditional mortice and tenons. The side rails are tenoned into the posts and held in with super strong metal brackets. Our beds can be put together and taken apart as many times as you like and they will still be as strong as the first time. That’s why Ashton and Coleman offer incredible lifetime guarantees on all of our handmade beds.   

Slat Bed Sizing

Sizes stated are external measurements (largest part of the piece). Sizes are a guide only. All handmade furniture by its nature can fluctuate in size fractionally from one piece to the next. For your chosen piece of furniture to fit the space you intend, please allow an additional 12mm on all external sizes given. Ashton And Coleman cannot be held responsible for failed installations or deliveries due to sizes being miscalculated by a customer.

Slat Bed Detail

Timber type : Quebec Pine, Scandinavian Pine

Finish : Fiddes Stripped Pine Furniture Wax

Build quality: The Slat Bed is handmade by Ashton And Coleman using 4″ solid section Scandinavian Pine for the bed posts. Glued and dowelled 3/4 inch mortice and tenon joints fix the Quebec pine planks to the posts. Extremely strong 3/4 inch mortice and tenons connect the side rails to the posts. Solid metal brackets are screwed to the side rails and the posts to keep the mortice and tenon’s together and also allow them to come apart for delivery. But don’t worry, you can take these beds apart and put them back together extremely easily and over and over again without losing the quality or strength of the bed.

Bed Slats: 27mm x 145mm Scandinavian redwood (Extremely Strong).

Space Under Side Rails: 20cm

Posts: 9.5cm x 9.5cm

Headboard and Footboard Planks: 3.8cm x 30cm with loose tongue and groove joint for acclimatisation.

Side rails size: 3.8cm x 25cm with additional timber slat support.

Delivery details : Headboard in 1 piece, footboard in 1 piece, removable side rails and slats. Delivered either by Ashton And Coleman or 3rd party courier.
