The Plank Bed is our original rustic solid wood plank bed, built with two things in mind, simple design accompanied by solid construction. The construction methods of all of our handcrafted wooden beds are of the highest quality. Designed to stand the test of time. We are more than happy to include lifetime guarantees on all of our solid wood bed frames. The rustic finish adds a handcrafted furniture charm to our designs that you simply won’t find on the high street.

The headboard and footboard of The Plank Bed are built up using solid four inch thick posts and one and a half inch thick planks of beautifully slow grown Canadian Pine. All joints are traditionally glued and pegged mortice and tenons. The removable side rails are made from solid planks of timber which are mortice and tenoned into the headboard and footboard. Reassuringly sturdy twenty seven millimetre thick pine bed slats complete the plank bed. All of our solid wood rustic beds are made and finished by hand in our workshop by our skilled craftsmen right here in Derbyshire. In most cases, we also deliver and install these beds ourselves ensuring you get the very best level of service from our workshop to your home.

Our furniture actually has our name on it, stamped by hand on leather discs in our showroom in Derbyshire and fitted to each piece.

For your chosen piece of furniture to fit the space you intend, please allow an additional 12mm on all external sizes given. Finish : Fiddes Stripped Pine Furniture Wax

Build quality: Handmade by Ashton And Coleman using 4″ solid section Scandinavian Redwood for the bed posts. Glued and dowelled 3/4 inch mortice and tenon joints fix the Quebec pine planks to the posts. Extremely strong 3/4 inch mortice and tenons connect the side rails to the posts. Solid metal brackets are screwed to the side rails and the posts to keep the mortice and tenon’s together and also allow them to come apart for delivery. But don’t worry, you can take these beds apart and put them back together extremely easily and over and over again without losing the quality or strength of the bed.
