The Oak Plank bed is a stunning example of clean design with the use of beautiful materials, if we do say so ourselves. This low-foot-end oak bed is perfectly understated and skilfully crafted in our Derbyshire workshop.

The Oak Plank bed is a timeless solid wood bed design, made using the finest European oak. Our signature re-sawn oak finish gives just enough character and charm to what we think is a beautifully simple design. The Plank Bed has a low foot end means the footprint of this bed design although made with generous timber sizes is only fractionally larger than the mattress it sits on. So, a great space saver for those of us with cosier-sized rooms without sacrificing the desire for a beautifully crafted solid wood bed. Our Plank Bed bed slats are made from twenty-seven-millimetre Scandinavian redwood timbers for super strength and breathability for your mattress. On top of all of that, we deliver and install our solid wood beds for free. So you don’t have to do a thing accept the order and wait. Simple.

Oak Plank Bed: Sizes stated are external measurements (largest part of the piece). Sizes are a guide only. All handmade furniture by its nature can fluctuate in size fractionally from one piece to the next. For your chosen piece of furniture to fit the space you intend, please allow an additional 12mm on all external sizes given. Ashton And Coleman cannot be held responsible for failed installations or deliveries due to sizes being miscalculated by a customer.

Timber type : European Oak, Scandinavian Redwood

Finish : Fiddes White Wax Oil

Build quality: Handmade by Ashton And Coleman using 4″ solid section European Oak for the bed posts. Glued and dowelled 3/4 inch mortice and tenon joints fix the random width European oak planks to the posts. Extremely strong 3/4 inch mortice and tenons connect the side rails to the posts. Solid metal brackets are screwed to the side rails and the posts to keep the mortice and tenon’s together and also allow them to come apart for delivery. But don’t worry, you can take these beds apart and put them back together extremely easily and over and over again without losing the quality or strength of the bed.

Bed Slats: 27mm x 145mm Scandinavian redwood (Extremely Strong).

Space Under Side Rails: 20cm

Posts: 9.5cm x 9.5cm

Headboard Planks: 3.5cm thick random width planks with loose tongue and groove joints for acclimatisation.

Side rails size: 3.5cm x 18.5cm with additional timber slat support.

Delivery details : Headboard in 1 piece, low foot end in 1 piece, removable side rails and slats. Delivered either by Ashton And Coleman or 3rd party courier.
